Even the Dead Get Up for Milk / Hasta los muertos se levantan por leche
By Chris Holaves
Children's fiction - bilingual
ISBN:978-0-9792991-0-0

Night after night in the "Tombs" of an old funeral home, a terrified boy bravely repeats to himself, "I am my father's son."  But will these words be enough to help him survive his paralyzing fear and turn this house into "Home Sweet Home"?

Post Modern Art

Matthew Vincent, Instructor of Art

Rock Valley College

The post modern art of Even the Dead Get Up for Milk / Hasta los muertos se levantan por leche references to Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon but with an edginess to it like that of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The box-like rooms with high eye level views into space make the tiny figure tucked under the blankets appear isolated and dwarfed. This intentionally incorrect perspective is reminiscent of the intuitive room drawings of children. Kids will admire them for their directness and simplicity.
